Answers to the most common questions from families considering Gangnam Prep’s Digital SAT tutoring program.

## About the Program

What is the Logic-First Framework?

The Logic-First Framework is Gangnam Prep’s core teaching methodology. It treats every Digital SAT question — in both Reading & Writing and Math — as a logic problem with a specific, identifiable structure. Rather than teaching students to read more carefully or practice more problems, the Framework teaches students to recognize the logical requirement of each question type and eliminate wrong answers by category, not by instinct. Students learn to answer the question in their own words before looking at the choices, which prevents the wrong answers (which are engineered to sound plausible) from derailing their thinking.

What is the 3-Round Scan & Strike method?

The 3-Round Scan & Strike is Gangnam Prep’s pacing system for the Digital SAT’s 32-minute Reading & Writing module. Round 1 (approximately 14 minutes): students move through all questions answering only those they are fully certain about, flagging everything uncertain. Round 2 (approximately 10 minutes): students return to flagged questions, now with sharper focus and no time pressure from easier items. Round 3 (approximately 8 minutes): a final pass using pattern recognition to resolve remaining questions. The method is built around a core insight: repeated exposure to a hard question forces students to notice details they missed earlier. Students are never allowed to stare at a passage until they “feel” they understand it.

How is Gangnam Prep different from tutoring centers like Kaplan or C2 Education?

Gangnam Prep is a specialist, not a chain. All instruction is delivered by Olivia Bang directly — there are no other tutors, no staff substitutions, and no group classes. The Logic-First Framework is a proprietary methodology developed over 17 years; it is not a standardized curriculum adapted from a textbook. Chains are optimized for average improvement across large student volumes. Gangnam Prep is designed specifically for students targeting 1400–1580.

What does an Anchor Test diagnostic look like?

Every new student starts with an Anchor Test — a full-length, scored Digital SAT practice test administered under timed, Bluebook-authentic conditions. After the test, Olivia analyzes every error by question type, sub-skill, and error category (not just right vs. wrong). The results produce a precise error map that drives every subsequent session. The Anchor Test replaces guesswork about where a student needs help with actual data.

What score improvements do students typically see?

Students who complete the full Gangnam Prep program average 200+ point improvements over their Anchor Test baseline. Improvement timelines vary by starting score, session frequency, and target. Most students working two to three sessions per week see their first measurable jump within four to six weeks.

Where is Gangnam Prep located?

Gangnam Prep is based in Diamond Bar, CA 91765. We serve students in person from Diamond Bar, Walnut, Brea, Fullerton, and Rowland Heights. In-person sessions are available by appointment.

Do you offer online tutoring?

Yes. All sessions are available via Zoom nationwide. Online sessions use the same Logic-First Framework, the same Anchor Test diagnostic, and the same 1:1 instruction as in-person. Many of Gangnam Prep’s highest-scoring students work exclusively online. Students from California, Texas, New York, and beyond have reached 1500+ through Zoom sessions.

How long are sessions and how often should students meet?

Standard sessions are 60 to 90 minutes. Most students targeting significant score improvement (150+ points) benefit from two to three sessions per week, combined with structured independent practice between sessions. Session frequency is determined based on the student’s timeline and target, not a fixed package.

Do you offer group classes or small group options?

No. All instruction is 1:1 only. Group instruction is not offered at any level. Every session is built around the individual student’s specific error map and weekly progress data.

What is the free consultation?

The free 30-minute diagnostic consultation is a no-obligation session with Olivia. She reviews the student’s most recent scores or practice test results, identifies the main error categories driving score loss, and maps out a realistic path to the student’s target score. There is no sales pressure and no commitment required. Book via the contact page.

— ## Test Preparation

What Digital SAT content domains does Gangnam Prep cover?

Reading & Writing: all eight question types (Vocabulary in Context, Big Picture/Main Idea, Literal Comprehension, Function/Purpose, Text Completion, Supporting and Undermining, Graphs and Charts, Paired Passages). Math: Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry — with emphasis on Algebra and Advanced Math, which together represent approximately 70% of the Math score.

Do you cover ACT prep as well?

The primary focus is Digital SAT. ACT prep is available on request. For most SGV students applying to selective universities, the Digital SAT is the recommended exam based on format alignment with the student’s skill profile.

How do you use Desmos in math instruction?

Desmos is integrated as a precision tool, not a crutch. Students learn the 15-Second Desmos Rule: if you can set up the equation in the Bluebook calculator within 15 seconds and it will produce a specific number or coordinate, use it. For Hard Module 2 questions — where approximately 40% of problems use variables that block Desmos — students develop algebraic fluency alongside calculator strategy. Over-reliance on Desmos is one of the most common traps for students who plateau in the 1350–1450 range.

How do you prepare students for the adaptive module structure?

Module 1 accuracy is treated as the primary strategic objective — because it determines whether the student accesses Hard Module 2, which is the only scoring path to 700+. Students learn to prioritize accuracy over speed in Module 1, and to use the 3-Round Scan & Strike method to manage time without sacrificing correctness.
