One-on-one SAT tutoring for Orange County families
Gangnam Prep offers live online SAT tutoring for students in Irvine, Fullerton, Brea, and other Orange County communities. Olivia Bang teaches students directly via Zoom. In-person lessons are available by appointment in Diamond Bar; Gangnam Prep does not advertise an Irvine or Fullerton office.
Olivia is a Johns Hopkins University graduate with a B.A. in International Relations and Economics. Her 17+ years of teaching experience include instruction at Hackers and Ivy Plan in Seoul.
Start with the student’s actual needs
A total SAT score is a starting point, not a diagnosis. Two students with the same score may need very different lessons. One may understand a passage but choose an inference that goes beyond the evidence. Another may lose points on sentence boundaries or struggle to apply a familiar Math concept under time pressure.
Before the first lesson, share recent section scores, the target test date, and available practice work. During a paid trial, Olivia reviews how the student reasons through questions. That discussion gives a more accurate picture than a score report alone.
What Reading & Writing lessons cover
- Grammar: identify subjects, verbs, clauses, modifiers, and punctuation rules, then apply them in focused practice.
- Passage reasoning: paraphrase the relevant evidence before evaluating choices. Check every part of an answer for support.
- Vocabulary and transitions: build word knowledge and identify the relationship between ideas.
- Pacing: practice confident questions first, medium questions next, and the hardest questions last. Adjust the approach to the student’s performance.
- Error review: record the missed concept, the tempting trap, the corrected reasoning, and a later re-solve.

Online lessons or Diamond Bar appointments?
Zoom lessons allow families to fit tutoring around school and activities without travel. Students work directly with Olivia and review their own practice questions and assignments. Families who prefer in-person instruction can ask about Diamond Bar appointments. Availability is confirmed individually; an inquiry does not reserve a lesson.

A free introductory consultation discusses goals and fit. Trial lessons and instructional assessments are paid. The appropriate number and frequency of lessons depend on current skills, the target score, independent practice, and time remaining before the test. No particular score increase is guaranteed.
